May 9 - Remembering Westray
After watching the "Fifth Estate" episode The Last Shift, create a collage consisting of images (at least 10) and words/phrases (at least 10) that could help convey the message you want to spread about the disaster at Westray.
May 15th - NS Occupational Health and Safety Act

May 18th - Human Rights in Nova Scotia Pamphlet
Retrieve a "Law in Action" text book and complete the following:
Page 113 of “Law in Action” textbook talks about human rights and discrimination. It lists the categories which are protected, by law, in Canada from discrimination. They may also want to got to http://www.hrsb.ns.ca/files/Downloads/pdf/diversity/respectful-workplaces-handbook.pdf
Students will prepare a pamphlet (advise them to use MS Publisher) that would be used to educate people on the following:
- the categories we are protected under
- definition and examples of harassment
- Employee rights and responsibilities in a workplace
- The steps for filing a complaint
The purpose of the pamphlet is to educate people on which categories are protected.
Remember to organise this well.
Remember to make it visually appealing.

Download THIS LINK and complete the activities at the bottom of the page. Print off your responses and submit by Tuesday, May 30.

June 5th - Classification of Hazards
Download these NOTES.
Create a colourful, informative, and accurate flyer (one page advertisement-type thing that you might see in a staff room or bulletin board) for EACH category. It must include:
- Title
- definition of the category
- at least three examples
- at least three pictures.
Submit them all as a 6 page booklet (cover page and one for each category), 5 points for each poster.
June 8th - MSDS
Download THIS document. Complete it, electronically, and print it off.
June 12 - Create your own MSDS
For this assignment you will be creating your own imaginary product that requires an MSDS. Use THIS template.
Fill in each category with REALISTIC, REASONABLE information that could actually be found on an MSDS. It's very much OK to be silly and creative, as long as it makes sense.
