March 25th - If I had a Million Dollars
Your goal:
Spend a million dollars on pretty much whatever you want!
The rules:
You are spending as though you are living right now
You can not donate anything
You can not invest
You can BLOW it on anything!!!
You must spend it as though you are still in the same “living situation” as now…
You must:
- Create a chart that shows the item and the price (researched, with the source)
- Provide a total spending amount
You have 2 (TWO) – not three, or four, or ten – TWO class periods to work on this assignment. Get to it!!
March 28th - “Living on the Elements”
Complete the budget FOUND HERE. Spend as little as POSSIBLE! The challenge is to survive all the same way on as little as possible… You must stay under the minimum wage in Nova Scotia - $10.60/hour, at 40 hour weeks, 50 weeks a year.
To complete this assignment you MUST complete the meal planner. CLICK HERE to download it!! Remember, this meal planner is for ONE WEEK - you must therefore figure out your monthly and annual costs... You may NOT skip meals. You MUST be realistic in your dietary needs. You must account for three (3) meals per day - even if you don't eat breakfast, or you claim to only eat a dry Mr. Noodles for lunch, just play the game. ;-)
Remember, you must pay to live. Find PROOF of everything you pay (you must include advertisements). If you're paying a cell bill or cable bill or internet, I want proof of cost!!! Use the internet...ask your parents...
- You must get at least two new pairs of shoes a year, and one new outfit per month.
- You must include toiletries!!!!!! Cleanliness is next to godliness, after all!!
- You need to transport yourself somewhere, sometime! You decide *(and you can't say "but I already own a car" and that's that - it needs fuel and insurance and repairs and registration and and and and)...
You need to pay rent, power, food, and you must have a bit for incidentals (like clothes, repairs, supplies, or whatever).
Your challenge is to live with as much thrift as possible.
You have two classes to work on this. TWO. 2. DEUX. That's it!!!
It's gotta be typed and printed off where applicable... You can work on the budget and meal planner in paper copy if you like, but whatever can be typed should be typed.
